Juice Cleansing - Ten Things You Must Know



A fast in the true sense of the term would not include anything except water; that is, no food or nourishing liquids at all.  In a less stringent fast experience has proved that juices (both fruits and vegetables) are very helpful during a fast and can, as well, increase the body’s capacity to purify or detoxify the system.

This type of fast is sometimes but not always referred to as juice cleansing.

These juices can supply the body with ample amounts of essential nutrients that assists in speeding up the process of the eradication of wastes and the rebuilding of the tissues.

Experts hold that during a juice cleansing, when the body releases the toxins that were stored in the layers of fats that this can lead to the development of acute symptoms as they are discharged from the body. This has been a matter of debate among the experts and some people have also stated that as raw and fresh fruit or vegetable juices contain abundant nutrients, it helps in neutralizing the toxins more efficiently, thus making the toxin release process much more safer than the usual water fasting.  Either way it’s better to not have the toxins in your body and to remove them.

Juice cleansing is meant for allowing the digestive system to take some rest time so that the energy that would have been used for digestion can be further used in our cells to eliminate wastes. The body can metabolize its own tissues to supply energy which are otherwise provided from the intake of food, it first only burns weak cells or the damaged cells that are diseased. During this periodic fast of 7 to 10 days, the body can naturally restore aspects of improved health. But anything that stretches beyond this period of time must be carefully monitored and it’s best to get a doctor to do such.

There are certain things that one must learn about juice fasting:

  1. Only organic produce should be used for juice fasting so as to avoid the chemical residues that are likely to be present in other produce. Always ensure to wash the fruits or vegetables before consuming them.
  2. For the preservation of the live enzymes, one must use a juicer that is non-centrifugal. These enzymes however are likely to be destroyed after reaching the stomach, but it is believed that they get absorbed through our esophagus before they can actually reach the stomach. So this life-force present in the juices can have beneficial effects on our health.
  3. Juices must be drunk immediately without any delay to have the maximum benefits of the nutrients and the enzymes. These vital nutrients might deteriorate if stored for long.
  4. Fruit juices are definitely more aggressive as compared to the vegetable juices and especially the citrus fruit juices. But if you are suffering from arthritis, you must avoid these citrus fruits.
  5. The fresh and raw juices are rich in alkaline minerals that help in neutralizing the toxins.
  6. Drink ample amount of fruit juices everyday in conjunction with water to detoxify the system thoroughly.
  7. Mild exercise and movements can be done during the process of cleansing. Deep breathing exercises and brisk walking can also be helpful.
  8. Toxins are also eliminated through our skin, since it is the largest organ of the human body. Keep your skin clean and brush your skin during a shower to remove the toxins thoroughly.
  9. Do not mix the vegetable and fruit juices together. It can have an adverse effect.
  10. Break your fast slowly and not abruptly. Take some time before introducing solid foods, raw food are the best choice.

 While there are many fruit juices for juice cleansing to be chosen from, my personal favorite is the lemon juice and the maple syrup diet for detoxification. They can do wonders!
