Master Detox

The Master of the Detox and his Legendary Cleanse

Stanley Burroughs, the alternative practitioner credited with perfecting and popularizing “The Master Cleanse,” described himself as a “naturopath.”  And Burroughs developed The Master Detox Cleanse to follow the fundamentals of naturopathy, promoting the body’s own built-in healing capacities.

Burroughs himself lived a long and productive life; and since his death in 1991, his methods and techniques have found validation from reputable bio-medical research, and they have found support and advocacy from a minor galaxy of Hollywood stars.  Naturopathic medicine treats health conditions by utilizing the body’s inherent ability to heal, and well-trained, experienced naturopaths match their practices and prescriptions to each patient’s individual needs without introducing anything synthetic or doing anything invasive.  Although some of Burroughs’s beliefs, practices, and techniques have been discredited by further research, his strange lemon-pepper potion has withstood rigorous inquisition; and several careful clinical studies of The Master Cleanse have advanced our knowledge of antioxidants.

The Master Cleanse rids the body of all the impediments to its natural strength and vitality.  Combining powerful antioxidants and potent nutrients, the detox master’s special formula removes free radicals from the circulatory system, and it prevents oxidation reactions both inside the body and in skin.  The most sophisticated recent research indicates that oxidation stands out as nature’s greatest contributor to aging, so that protecting your system against its harmful effects, you maintain youthful vitality and health.  In the same way that a carpenter galvanizes nails to prevent the oxidation reaction we know as “rust,” master detox practitioners fortify their bodies against oxidation with fruits, plants, and herbs.

As he worked on exactly the right combination and proportions for ingredients in his master detox system, Burroughs attempted to balance the equation between eliminating toxins and introducing nutrients.  When he struck this elusive balance, Burroughs laid the cornerstone of his cleansing remedy’s long-lasting success.  Although master detox devotees unanimously agree that Burroughs’s formula tastes absolutely rotten, they swear by its results.  Used properly, the master detox system helps the renal system remove toxins and pathogens from your blood, the digestive system completely remove metabolic wastes from your colon and intestines, and your circulatory system transport free radicals away from all of your cells.  As it rids your body of everything that threatens or subverts its optimum operation, the master detox system introduces vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that boost your auto-immune system, promote proper digestion, and reduce stress hormones that trigger your body’s nutrient-hording functions.  Especially belly fat disappears relatively quickly when you use the master detox system for weitht loss, because your body stops protecting itself against starvation by storing nutrients as fat around your mid-section.

One of Burroughs’s salient practices, the colon cleanse remains the subject of controversy and intense research.  Traditional western physicians maintain the digestive system thoroughly processes all food and eliminates waste within no more than thirty-six hours of your ingesting it—unless, of course, constipation slows the elimination process.  Traditional psychiatrists, meanwhile, following research from Freud himself, classify constipation among psycho-somatic disorders, emphasizing the primordial link between the digestive system and the fight-or-flight reflex.  The Freudians and their heirs require little more proof of the digestive system’s stress link than every athlete’s pre-event butterflies and every lover’s first-sight stomach somersaults.  Therefore, they advocate aggressive psychotherapy as the most effective remedy for digestive disorders.  Nutritionists simply advocate lots of fiber and yogurt, and many twenty-first century naturopaths have allied with nutritionists, allowing for gentle colon cleansing but repudiating Burroughs’s fierce digestive purges.
