Use Beyonce’s Diet Secrets: Lose Weight and Get Fit Like a Rock Star

Ever since pop-superstar and actress Beyonce Knowles reportedly lost twenty pounds using a combination of detoxification and colon cleansing products, her two-step weight-loss process has become known as “The Beyonce Diet.”  Although Knowles herself has not endorsed any line of products or any particular detox weight loss formula, she has not been shy about discussing her devotion to homeopathic weight loss practices.

Arguably the least risky, most natural among the many naturopathic and homeopathic systems advertised on the internet and late-night cable television, the so-called Beyonce Diet depends on the antioxidant rich acai berry for the majority of its efficiency and effectiveness.

Along with the hip-hop queen, Oprah’s resident naturopath, Dr. Mehmet Oz advocates acai products, citing reputable studies by nutritionists, cardiologists, and oncologists who have found that the antioxidant rich little Brazilian berries have at least twenty significant health benefits.
Acai advocates claim these little rainforest wonders, distant cousins of grapes and blueberries, improve digestion and enhance sexual potency, diminish depression and relieve the most prominent symptoms of diabetes, clear-up problem skin and contribute to mental acuity, and generally improve stamina, strength, and well-being.  Only 2% of each tiny acai berry is edible fruit pulp, and the berries are extremely perishable, so that acai products are expensive.  Blueberries, grapes, and purple fruits—anthocyanins—would seem to provide desirable, perfectly viable, and wonderfully affordable alternatives to acai products, except that measure-for-measure nothing on Earth can match acai’s exceptional antioxidant content.

The websites that promote Beyonce’s Diet also stress the importance of colon cleansing as an essential element of the singer’s weight-loss regime.  Controversy still rages around the wisdom and safety of colon cleansing, but the digestive tract detoxification products sold on the Beyonce sites certainly will do no harm, and they show promise for health benefits which research simply has yet to prove.  Most of all, however, would-be purchasers of these products should note that Beyonce sites have adopted naturopathy’s working definition of “cleansing,” using the term to mean strengthening the digestive system’s own built-in defenses against harmful chemicals and microorganisms.  Genuinely risky homeopathic colon cleansers aggressively purge the intestines; Beyonce “cleansers” fortify them.

Millions of anecdotal reports and a growing body of preliminary research support the safety and effectiveness of Beyonce’s two-step process.  Colon cleansing advocates base their arguments on the presence of parasites, bacteria, and latent viruses in our digestive systems; and they stress that contaminated drinking water significantly increases our risk of ingesting menacing micro-organisms.  Unlike some genuinely dangerous colon cleansers, however, those sold in conjunction with the Beyonce Diet are all-natural, relatively slow-acting, and generally safe.  Rich in pro-biotics, these cleansers boost your digestive system’s defenses against food- and water-borne pathogens rather than purging your gastro-intestinal system of just about all its contents.  Also rich in fruit, plant, and herbal extracts, the cleansers that complement The Beyonce Diet also promote complete digestion of complex proteins and they naturally boost metabolism so that the body burns carbohydrates instead of storing them as fat.

Finally, strict adherence to an authentically Beyonce Diet must include a challenging exercise program.  Although advocates stridently maintain acai and healthy colon cleansing will yield amazing health benefits without vigorous exercise and hardcore food restrictions, all healthcare professionals agree that effective long-term weight loss requires regular daily exercise.  Most fitness experts, including Beyonce’s own personal trainer, recommend a combination of cardio-pulmonary training with strength training—commonly known as walking your dog and picking-up your toddler.  You do not, however, have to join a gym or take classes to get the exercise you need.  If you take your dog for a half-hour daily walk, you will feel and see the difference in your overall fitness; and if you maximize the strength-building potential in your routine household chores, you will feel your muscles developing.  According to reliable research, “diligent” housework burns approximately 360 calories per hour—roughly the equivalent of swimming laps.
